How We Plan and Prepare for Your Appointment

I’m committed to giving professional advice and mobile hairdressing services. So before your hair appointment (and to give you the most accurate quote), I need to get to know you and your hair a little better.

Getting to know your hair

For starters, what does your hair look like right now? Pictures of the front, side and back are ideal. These should be taken in strong light (sunlight is best) and with no filters. Don’t be shy, your bad hair day and daggy pyjamas will be our secret.

You will need to tell me your hair history too. When was it last coloured? Has it been layered before? Have you coloured, bleached or treated it at home? Your answers can dramatically change how I approach your hair and the fewer surprises during your appointment the better the outcome.

Of course, you also need to tell me what you want done with your hair. Pictures are worth a thousand words. Do you want the style of a certain celebrity? Have you been stalking someone on Facebook with the perfect blonde tones? If you can provide me with photo examples I’ll know what to bring to the appointment and provide advice to ensure you get the best results. You can also have a look at my Facebook page to see some of my recent clients for inspiration. Of course, if you just don’t know what to do with your hair, I can help there too. We can find a fresh style and colour to suit you.

Preparing for your appointment

I might ask you to prepare your hair just before I arrive. In some cases working with freshly washed and slightly damp hair is easiest particularly if we’re starting with a trim or cut. Your hair is easiest to work with if it is clean and hasn’t recently been crimped or curled. If in doubt, just ask me a few days before your appointment.

By now, if we’ve covered everything above you should have an accurate quote and if we stick to the plan it’s very rare for this to change during an appointment. Take a look at information about my mobile hairdressing services to get a rough guide for what I charge for different services.

At the moment I only accept payment in cash so you may need to make a trip to the ATM.

Cancellations

If you can’t keep your appointment for any reason please try to give me at least 24 hours notice. This allows me, not only to schedule in other clients but also to reschedule a more appropriate time for you.

Preventing Dry and Fly-away Hair

Is your hair dry and fly away? It may be time to lay off the shampoo. Let the natural oils build up a bit and combat oily roots by tipping your head upside down at night and brushing your hair from the underside. Give it time and your hair will adjust.

Frequent dramatic changes will damage your hair. So stay consistent with your colour. Keep it easy with minimal foils and lots of toner. Try an ombre or balayage look to help keep your hair looking healthy.

Your Everyday Hair Style Should Make You Smile

I wear my hair up in a bun every single day. It’s not fancy, but it saves me time every morning and keeps my hair out of my way. My boyfriend begs me to wear it out sometimes but I’m a creature of habit so he has to be patient ;)

Whenever I meet a new client one of the first things I ask them is ‘what’s your everyday style?’. No matter what you want done with your hair, if it's not going to look great paired with your everyday style, you’re heading towards disaster.

Some styles that are really popular at the moment like ombre and balayage are intended to be worn out. When they’re worn up, in a bun or a ponytail, they just don’t have the same stunning effect. Of course that’s doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have those styles. You just need to be aware of how your hair will look in different situations. If it does bother you, I might suggest some subtle highlights instead. They will blend in no matter how you wear your hair.

We all have our everyday style. Sometimes it’s based on convenience or how we had to wear it for twelve years of schooling. Sometimes it is corporate expectations or a jumbled mix of reasons. When I work on your hair I want to make sure you’re excited by your everyday hair too. Because it’s the hair you have to live with. It’s the hair you’ll pull into shape in the lift up to work. And it’s the hair you’ll rock at that post-gym coffee date with the cutie from yoga.

In your message, let me know what time suits you and what you're looking to have done with your hair. I offer a full range of hair services.

Consultation

Before your appointment I'll need to know a bit more about your hair. I'll ask for a picture of your hair as it is right now. It also helps if you can share an inspiration picture.

To ensure you get the best experience, I need to be 100 per cent prepared before the day of your service so I'll probably ask a few more questions than your usually asked before a salon appointment.

Confirmation

In most cases I'll contact you the day before your appointment just to re-confirm the time and address. Then, we're all set!
